GLIMPSE - Shiva after tamil padam has created some expectation. Vaa-QC was again a comical movie but differs from tamil padam. Its a new kind of try in tamil cinema and let us see what was it.
FIRST HALF - Shiva gets a job in Saudi Arabia. He comes to chennai that night for his flight the very next day morning 4am. S.p.b.Saran plays as his uncle as he was engaged to marry shiva's elder sister. The job arranger tells shiva saudi is very strict, he should avoid drinks and should not see ladies publicly. Shiva becomes desperate on hearing this. So, he wants to have a qaurter cutting over night, as he has got only a few hours left for the flight. He threatens Saran to accompany him to find quarter, since every shop has been closed for next 3 days due to election. He searches nook and corner over the 'night waken city' atleast to get a small gulp. But, the quarter that came to his hand, couldn't reach his mouth. He gets into peak of tension due to repeated failures.
SECOND HALF - John Vijay who owns a gambling club offers shiva a lot of quarter bottles once he victors him in mangathaa (Lead) game. Shiva spends all his money but fails to win. He also loses his covering chain, false-proving it as gold. John's father (same john vijay dual role - speaks like M.r.Radha) examines the chain and find that as fake. So, he orders his son to capture shiva for keeping him as slave in the club. John sees saran and brings both of them to his father. Here comes the twist (I Dont want to reveal here).
CLIMAX - Saran himself plays gambling with john's father due to an old debt. Shiva's passport and air-ticket were used for bet, whether he victors...? Does he get atleast a small drop of quarter..? forms the climax.
MERITS : The whole film has been shooted in night effect using only Red, Green,White & Black as Major colours to capture the mood. Yes it has worked out right. Movie doesn't bore, as it is fast paced. Quick comedy. Good presentation and acting by all. Great Art direction. Songs were good to watch.
DE-MERITS : It doesnt have understandable comedy for the common audience. Movie is in hollywood style and could have added little care to make it to real chennai style. Some minor glitches made the movie boredom for commercial loving audiences.
MY PUNCH : Though Vaa quarter cutting received lot of negative comments from 2/3rd of audience, It has still delivered the essence for what it was made. Thoroughly enjoyable @ weekend night show.
