GLIMPSE - Vijay's kaavalan after a long struggle has hit the screens on 15th january 2011 (With one day delay). After the failure of Sura and average vettaikaran... every fans of him expected "kaavalan" as the real "guard" for eradicating the negative marks on "Vijay". Let me analyze the crucial factors of kaavalan.

MERITS : Vijay has played the role of 'bodyguard' without any 'one-line-punches' or 'gravity defying fights'. His character resembled the time he played as 'kutti' in 'TMT' and a sincere lover in 'Love today'. He hath handled the role so soft and Vadivelu accompanies him delivering an average comedy throughout the movie. Vidyasagar's BG music plays a vital role. Songs blends very well with the script. Unexpected twists at the end gives a "feel good" experience.

DE-MERITS First half is totally dull and it will give us a feeling of watching a comedy serial. Asin is very sad, weak n thin (!?). Comedy is not like earlier combinations of vadivelu n vijay. Story n screenplay lacks the required pace n thrills. No effective casting and many talented artists just come at the beginning & vanish. Vijay's hairstyle at the climax is not at all suitable for his face-cut.

MY PUNCH : Kaavalan though claimed to be the victor among pongal release, it was not such a great film when compared to his early films of such genre. (1996 - 2003 Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Vijay)  Watch it once & forget !

Music : Vidyasagar

Director : Siva

Release Date : 14th Jan 2011
Genre : Action, Comedy,  Love, Cop Story & Sentiment

GLIMPSE - Kaarthi's growth chart goes linear initiated from Paruthi veeran. Being asst director of manirathnam, its quite natural he has learnt what is Accurate Acting. As his total films count to 5 with siruthai, he has also scored 5 stars with his action packed comedy in siruthai. Kaarthi has done a dual role as Rocket raja (Pick Pocket thief) and Rathinavel pandian IPS (DSP).  Lets see what has worked out and what was lacking.

MERITS : Kaarthi is fully vibrant and energetic throughout the movie, even-though he has done a dual role. Shanthanam has supported the comedy track with his rib-tickling dialogues. After a long time, we hear Vidyasagars BG music and though not upto gilli or dhool, he has delivered what is necessary for the garam-masala flick. The fight scene before interval was mind-boggling and the way climax has been shot is sure to make this movie an above average hit. Hope girls will love this movie n karthi [As lot of girls who sat a row behind me were going gaga over the film :) ] The best to mention @Last was the DSP role by kaarthi, it will earn him good name from all class audiences.

DE-MERITS : While kaarthi scores high marks from film to film, Tamanah was on the reverse track, her role was so idiotic and logic-less, added to her poor innocent acting. Main Villain was not at all impressive, looks like he is an aged TB patient. How could 2 karthi's look alike (!?), even-though they are not twins or blood related, only differentiation is their way of talking and a small scar on the nose of 'fraudulent' karthi. Songs could have been made with little more cheer & care. // Why does many of our directors always tell a gangster story with andhra BG, while it could have been well said with tamil nativity....? :( //

MY PUNCH : If you dont want to waste your 2 hours and 40 minutes,  then go watch siruthai. Sit, relax, whistle, clap, giggle n enjoy!
JINGTHAATHAA... JINDHAA... JINDHAA... JINGTHAATHAA... THAA...!

ஆடுகளம் / AADUKALAM - MOVIE REVIEW

Cast : Dhanush, Taapsee, Kishore, Jayabalan, Nareyn

Music : G.V.Prakash

Director : Vetri Maaran
Producer : Kathiresan
Distributor : Sun Pictures
Release Date : 14th Jan 2011
Genre : Action, Betrayal, Love & Sentiment
REVIEW BY : AUTHOR

GLIMPSE - There was a huge expectation for this movie for the reason, it is the second combo of vetrimaaran & Dhanush, following the grandeur Polladhavan. The movie has been captured around 'thiruparangundram' of Madurai. The story revolves around the famous 'Rooster fight' (next to Bull fight) of rural madurai and the sequel of vengeance connected with it.

MERITS : Performance-wise Dhanush stands ahead of all. He has revealed his other face of acting through this movie. He had lived up to the character, as a local adult of madurai with all anger and humor, born with those innocent people. Music is good for songs. First half is racy and graphics done for the rooster fight is amazingly crisper. (As real filming of those fight is banned by Animal welfare associations).

DE-MERITS : Second half looses grip and towards climax the film falls in the deep pit. In many scenes, BG music by G.V.P resembles the old scoring of maestro ilayaraja. Heroine gets 'Zero' marks as an anglo-indian girl, without any expression in her face for none of the scenes. Voice of raadharavi for Jeyabalan (Pettaikaran) looks unfit, though bold. In no place the movie has a strong situation that leads to vendetta.

MY PUNCH : Watch it once if you want to see dhanush in different angle and for the rooster fight!
