GLIMPSE - This movie was acclaimed to be a real story that happened years back in Andhra pradesh. It was made 'Rakht Charitra' in hindi as Part 1 & 2. Where the first one described the rise of Prathap ravi(V.Oberoi) and the second one that describes the revenge of Surya over Prathap. Whereas in tamil RGV released it as a single part that mainly portrays the revenge of Surya. Here is the review.
FIRST HALF - The first part of the movie has been shown in glimpse for the first 20 minutes. Prathap takes revenge on suryas father and kills him as his family was affected by him. Then he enters into politics and rise as a big political leader with the support of ruling government. Here comes surya's intro. He tries to kill pratap by bombing the car. But, he survives the attack. While surya was suspected, oberoi orders his assistants to kill him. Before they find him Surya surrenders, as police take priyamani (Surya's wife) in custody. The police inspector gives protection to suryas wife and child. While Surya was in jail, a co-prisoner asks surya about the cause for his vengeance against prathap. Flashback roles. Where surya lives away from his father being a construction engineer and loves priyamani n marry her. His father kittu was a big politician and kills enemies for real cause. Surya dislikes that and wants to take them all away from that environment and keep with him. One day pratap kills suryas father as he had been the cause for his fathers murder. This doesnt stop with this and pratap's gang men bombs suryas house with a bomb set in a TV sent for repair. Surya's mother & brother were destroyed in pieces infront of his eyes. But, this had happened without prathap's knowledge as his gang members urges to kill all the enemies, ordered by pratap casually before. Here Starts the Vendetta.
SECOND HALF - As Surya tells this to the co-prisoner he cries and supports surya for the action against pratap. Pratap grows bigger in politics and stands in election. Surya asks priyamani to stand as opponent. By now surya's co-prisoner gets released. He takes gun in his hand with the permission of surya to finish off pratap. At the same time pratap sends his closemen to shoot priyamani while addressing the public on stage for vote. But, prathap's wife dis-agree for the decision made and after long thinking pratap rings the gang men and asks to stop the shooting of priyamani. As that person was about to shoot, the co-prisoner who watch this, shoots him immediately. This was witnessed by the other gang men who runs to stop the shooter. Again the vengeance starts against surya. As pratap meets surya in prison, there is no compromise and both wants to kill each other.
CLIMAX - Pratap arranges for a big election meeting. Meanwhile surya escapes from the prison and kills Pratap shooting continuously with a revolver. Again he gets back to the prison. His co-prisoner accepts that he only killed pratap and surrenders. Movie ends with gautam menon's voice that adages, " Violence is the right treatment against Violence!"
MERITS : Surya's overall performance has been at par with nayagan's teen kamalhassan. BG Music played a vital role. Some Slow motion scenes were really good. Vivek oberoi is as good as a terrific villain.
DE-MERITS : Movie looks like a mix of hindi, telugu and tamil. We have only Surya to remind that this is tamil movie. Many scenes were in slow motion, unnecessary at few places. Camera rotates upright, sky-down and sideways at few scenes that gives headache and eyepain. Fully dark and some scenes we identify the characters only through voice. Songs were not that much good. No logic at some places. Full of blood and violence that will surely keep away family audience.
MY PUNCH : Watch it only if you love gory slaughter vehemence and especially if you wanna see Surya's new avatar.
