GLIMPSE - After a few months gap after Endhiran i'm making this review for Mynaa. I was busy with some personal works all these days. Almost every movie lovers should have watched this movie by now. If someone have missed yet, make your dates free before it run out of the theaters. I emphasize it because, now-a-days if a movie runs for 50+ days its considered as a block-buster. Everyone should have been aware that Endhiran was replaced by many movies after it has achieved 50 Days in leading theaters & was boldly announced BLOCK BUSTER in leading movie news sites like Behindwoods n other media's. Ok Let us see why Mynaa is being applauded a lot.
FIRST HALF - The story is so simple. A village based love story. Vidarth when he was a small boy lags in study and involves in all mischievous activities. His dad was a heavy drinker n gambler, hence he doesn't concentrate on his sons activities much. As the boy grows illiterate, he gives rehabilitation to a small girl and his mother in his grandma's home. As both of them grows Love starts blooming in their hearts n it fills their soul with ecstasy. At a point it was known to mynaa's mother n she arranges for her marriage to some-other guy. Vidarth (Suruli) gets angry and beats myna's mother. She makes a complaint to the nearby police station. They arrest him. The next day she arranges for myna's marriage. Knowing this through a small boy, suruli escapes from the jail on the day before diwali. High pressures from the officials makes Inspector and thambi ramaya (Asst. police) to go in search for suruli inside the deep forests of Western ghats.
SECOND HALF - As they both travel by various means and reaches the place of accused. There was a fight between myna's mother and suruli, as she was about to fix marriage in urgency. The inspector beats suruli and arrests him, mynaa also goes with suruli. Again they travel into the deep forests and misses way. Finally they walk into many paths and reaches munar city. Inbetween there was a torturous phone call from the inspectors wife repeatedly asking for his presence with her family membes for Thalai Diwali being newly married couples. On the way as they have lunch in a hotel, the much troubled inspector expresses his anger in front of suruli, that he is going to book him under dope case and put in prison for 6 months. He also adds mynaa will be destroyed in some bus stand by some rogues. As suruli becomes heavily beaten up by these words he escapes with mynaa, carrying her on back of his shoulders as she was wounded by a nail on road. Again they catch him in a dental hospital, as he drops mynaa for treatment. Here thambi ramaya makes a criminal plan and acts good infront of suruli to avoid another escape. So he believes them and gets into kurangani bus. It travels thro all the edges of beautiful hill ranges with a good folk song. Treat for our eyes throughout the movie as the camera plays cool with never captured nature on silver screen.
CLIMAX - Sudden twist occurs and suruli saves the life of both police men (I don't wanna reveal the suspense for those who have not watched the movie yet). They also change their attitude towards suruli and ensures for his well being after producing to court. Mynaa stays in the inspectors home for the night. Wife of inspector fights mis-judging myna as his keep and goes to her fathers home. All of those family men becomes desperate and the rest of the portions forms an enthralling Climax which cannot be judged easily as many twists occur.
MERITS : Most of the characters were debutants and they have done their job pretty well. Cinematography and Music almost plays as a character of the movie. Locations are heart touchy and a treat for all dry eyes. Art director has done a tremendous job in a scene that i haven't revealed here. Songs Were too good to hear and watch.
DE-MERITS : Forests could have been shown still more dangerous with some animal encounters and sudden attacks to add thrill to the journey. Some expressions by hero looks like over-action. Towards the end little confusion arises.
MY PUNCH : Mynaa is like a Kurunji Flower (Blossoms once in 12 Years) as movies like this become a rarity in tamil cinema. Never miss it folks.
