GLIMPSE - Aarya after the great success of Boss engira baskaran had chosen a differnet genre with lots of love & feel good comedy. Chikku Bukku is a cool movie for the cold winter. Let us analyze.

FIRST HALF -  Aarya palys dual role with chikku bukku. The title has been relevant to the movie as it slowly moves like ooty train in a cool atmosphere. Aarya grownup in London was working as a part-time modern DJ.  He lives with his grandmother. She asks aarya to goto Karaikudi as their old house was under seize due to their debts. He refuses first but later accepts grandma's request and starts his journey. Meanwhile shreya saran who lives with her uncle in London was also getting a call from Madurai, as her father was injured as he fall from a ladder. So, she also moves to India. They both reach Bangalore airport without knowing each other. All flights were delayed due to heavy rain and fog. So, they decide to catchup with some black tickets and continue their journey by train to madurai. But the ticket available is for husband and wife. So they both pretend to act as husband and wife. The TTE checks the ticket and finds they are fraud. He asks both to getdown in the next station. Here starts there journey in hilly areas of Karnataka. They both join hands as friends to accompany each other. They hire a Lorry for 1000 rupees to goto madurai. But the lorry persons drops them nearby and escapes. Shreya loses her bag that contains passport and all things. She also loses her mobile to a small boy. So, Aarya is her only source for all help. She depends on him completely. Meanwhile aarya looks at a diary in his bag that was labelled 1985, which was his fathers property kept by her grandmaa for him to read to know the nativity.

SECOND HALFFlashback roles to 1985 karaikudi as aarya strats reading his father's diary. Again aarya has played the father role. He had fallen in love with a teacher and wants to marry her. All the efforts he had put to love her has been deliberately shown. But, aaryas father puts a red signal for his desire, as they are well in status and doesn't want to marry him to a school teacher. But aarya stands against his father. Meanwhile he gets a call for Army training. So, he goes leaving his lover. Santhanam's track was made in separate sequences as he is undergoing military training half heartedly and all his scenes even for few minutes makes us cheer a lot (But not like BEB. as this movie has been shooted earlier, there is no pairing-up with aarya). There in the training aarya meets a new friend who is very weak to perform military tasks. Aarya helps him and finally he comes to know that that guy was the Uncles Son for his Lover and he also loves the same girl. Knowing aarya was loving the same girl, he decides to sacrifice his love and falls off from the elevated training post, saying bye to aarya. Aarya admitts him in hospital and finally he decides to sacrifice his love for the friendship. He marries some other girl and this aarya was born. Diary closes. Aarya comes to karaikudi and shreya leaves to madurai half heartedly as they both fall in love without their knowledge. Marriage arrangements takes place for shreya.
CLIMAX - Aarya doesnt want to miss shreya and he goes to madurai after getting back his native home by paying their debts. Knowing shreya was about to be engaged he becomes broken by heart. But he tells her his love. She also accepts it and asks her dad to stop the engagement. Now there is a big twist that no one will expect. What happens rest..? Get the answer from theatre.

MERITS : Aarya improves a lot film by film, his charming cool boy character is a treat to watch. Shreya too is equally good. Santhanam though comes for few minutes he provides a comedy relief. Good cinematography throughout the movie. Good Colours used for flashback of 1985. Locations are fabulous.

DE-MERITS : Music gives headache throughout the film. Loud noises of drums, guitars, violins and piano tears our ears and bring tears in our eyes (not really for good cause). Colonial cousins music is a big negative aspect for the movie. one 1985 melody song alone is good, i think that was scored by pravin mani. 2010 and 1985 were shown now and then, instead director could have added the flash back in a single sequence trimming some unwanted portions, adding some enthralling scenes for 2010.

MY PUNCH : Chikku Bukku should have been like a Super fast Express train journey, but since there are few glitches as i have mentioned in de-merits, the train becomes fast passenger.
