After "Avatar", I'm crazy over 3 Dimensional movies and my eyes were always expecting the arrival of one such! Before a month, i catched a glimpse of  "Clash of  the titans" in the form of trailer in HBO. I have mind marked that movie and awaited for its release. It was first planned for worldwide release on 19th of march '10. But, the massive success of Avatar made the director think "Why not release it in 3D?". So, the total team strived much harder to convert the whole movie (Actually 2D) in to 3D within a span of 10 days. They successfully finished their job and as per plan it was released with the tagline "The Clash Begins 2.4.2010 ". (Note: In Norway it was first released in 2D on 26-03-2010)

Now getting into the storyline, it was a remix or remake of the so called film of 1980's. But, the story itself seems to be as old as the original one. Let me put it up shortly. as, much elaboration will make u bore. It goes like this...

" "The Clash of the Titans" is set in the Greek city of Argos where a war is about to explode between man and the gods. Perseus (Sam Worthington) raised as a fisherman, but is actually a demi-god. Perseus is the son of Zeus (Liam Neeson) who is about to take on the gods after the death of his family. Zeus' brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) was the one who killed his family, and Perseus wants to kill him. However, it is Perseus's destiny to rescue the city of Argos from the ruthless rage of Hades and his Kraken monster. With nothing to lose, Perseus leads a band of soldiers on a quest to defeat the Kraken. In doing this, Perseus will prevent Hades from overthrowing Zeus and in turn destroying mankind. (Pl. Note: This Story line alone taken from IMDB as i dont remember character & ancient names)

Many of us may not be aware of the ancient history of greeks and its a drawback on the storyline. So, as expected we will not be able to understand many sequences and characters throughout the film. Added to the burning oil, the dialogues are much unpleasant and  leaves us in chaos. (I watched it in tamil, and itz so poor - they have used mannar kaalathu tamil / and so in the case of english i heard from IMDB comment makers.) Director Louis letterier has previously made chart busters like The Incredible Hulk & Transporter Series. So the expectation was lot from him, has he fulfilled it ?  I would rather put it as, partially "YES" with a small "no".

Let me prove with some detailing. "The first half of the movie was filled with mindless dialogues and very few acting skills (I thought total money waste!) and before 15 minutes on to interval "the real clash begins!". Itz the time for us to watch astonishing 3D and  breath taking visual actions! I told into my heart, there is something "beyond expectation" in this movie rather considering the flaws. The total movie was 1hr 40 mints excluding the credits. You will be stunned for atleast 1 hour and "Yes" it gives the worth for money spent. (I spent 100 rs with provided HQ 3D glass - Guru Theatre, Madurai). You will visualise never seen "Gigantic" (I mean it!) Poisonous Black Scorpions with faultless graphics and flawless action. You will fear them... and imagine "WOW - I'm watching it in 3D! It hasn't just stopped with the scorpions.

After interval, its full of eye catching visuals and high-end graphical treat. Just role ur memories back to the monsterous hollywood movies... which is the biggest snake(BOA) u have ever watched in a HW flick? i guess, u may put it as "Anaconda". But, here is a record breaking animation of a snake, which is in un-imaginable size and structure,  again i will highlight the "3D WOW"! In addition,You see a flying Black horse, Baddy(villain) appearing in the form of dark smoke in air, falling palaces & giant statues, rising ocean waters...... etc all happening closer to your forehead! Heartful Kudos!!! to the visual effects and 3D animators. Some Scenes remind's us of Avatar and even much better than avatar, where poor creature creation(animation) is eliminated here, thereby providing much closer to realness scenario.

On the poor side, as i have mentioned earlier, "Boring ancient dialogues", "Poor dialogue sync with movie pace" and very careless acting throughout by many important characters (Including our Hero). The sets of some scenes look crapy. Very big minus point is the "god & angels" look so 'damn like a human' and their dressings are made with glittering silver foils(Spl mention - The GOD Zeus), looks like a third class stage artist - < surukamaa sonaa, palaya Bagyaraj & T.R dresses in love songs - jiggu jiggunu daal adikume :) > . The sets of heaven is as poor as a drama set. Many of the characters look modern in their hair style and actions - like Software & Business Professionals! (keep in mind the story is all about an Epic Greek Mythology).

But, these things are negligible & doesn't leave us behind. In climax "KRAKEN" a monstrous(!!!) creature rises from the underneath of hell - below the ocean and believe me, "I cant shut my open mouth for few minutes!". The size of that creature hypnotized me and i can hardly move my eyes off the screen. I could easily bet no hollywood flick has shown such an enormously sized creature in a 'micron crisper' graphical detail, that too in 3D. At this point, I was justified for the money spent. (For watching this movie, as well as their cost of production)

In the end, did sam victor over all these dangerous monsters & devils...? How did he do that...? Whether he uses his Semi-God power...? Did his Love succeed? For all other questions that rise in ur mind, i will give a very simple answer...

"GO TO A SOPHISTICATED 3D THEATRE! ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND WITH UR LOVED ONES!"

HAT'S OFF :  EYE DAZZLING GRAPHICS & VISUAL EFFECTS, MIND BLOWING 3D & BG MUSIC, HEART STOPPING ACTION SEQUENCES BY MONSTERS & WORTHINGTON!

BRAIN'S OFF : POOR DIALOGUES, FEW WORST SETS, WORTHLESS COSTUMES & OLD MYTHOLOGICAL STORYLINE.

FINISHING TOUCH : "IF SOME OF THE ABOVE THINGS, THAT TURN OUR BRAIN'S OFF, WOULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED B4 THE RELEASE.... THEN, SURELY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A REMARKABLE 3D FLICK!"

(Kind Note: Since 3D conversion was made in a very short time few scenes are not quite appealing - But I will put it as a short time "BEST", Plz cheer-up for the hard-work done, rather discouraging on speaking only about the minors!)

MY RATING  71%
